Genesis draw the wire in two cups

The cup draws came thick and fast this week, so after our earlier draw to play away to Atherstone Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday 17th October 2009, the FA Cup preliminaries and the League cup draws quickly followed.


First came the news that we have drawn local rivals Warrington Town away in the FA Cup on Saturday 29th August.  More developments arose yesterday though as the opposition requested a “provisional” date change from the FA for the fixture to be moved to Monday 31st August.  The reason for the request is that of Warrington Wolves progression in the Challenge Cup, fearing low crowds & decimated staff levels  if they played us on a date that clashed with what would be the Challenge Cup final date.  We are presently awaiting news of Wolves progression and an ultimate decision from the FA on this.


Next was confirmation of the Unibond League Challenge Cup which is scheduled to be played week commencing 21st September.  This time we have been drawn to play at home against Warrington in what will now be one of four meetings with them this season.


As more confirmation of fixture dates and kick off times comes through we will of course keep you updated.
