Lending A Helping Hand
Says Sam: 'For the next two weeks the club are going to be helping me to help them. Many schools in the area have to do a work experience; I chose to do mine here at Leigh Genesis my much loved local football club. Over the period I shall be giving Mary and Donna a helping hand in the office and on match days, they promise I’m going to have a busy time.
One of the things I have to do is to keep everyone informed on how I’m doing and at the moment (after a day) it’s going great. Yesterday involved doing a stock check, finding any articles about us in the non-league papers and of course making brews and despite the cancellation of the game last night my spirits are high.
I chose to work at the club because I wanted to see from the inside how the club works, to try and find out about what it is the staff do and understand about all the hard work that goes into running a football club. I also wanted to know if I could cope with an office job because I have always said I would hate to do it.
I’m really enjoying being here, the people at the offices are lovely and very polite, and to be able to help do things for the club when the team are currently working voluntary is great as hopefully it’s taking a bit of stress away.
You can keep up to date with how things are going on this spot right here and if you have any questions (not about finding out gossip) get in touch.'
