If your making your own way there.....it's only £3 on the train (return) from Wigan Wallgate, just make sure you ask for Ashton U-Lyne and don't just get a Manchester ticket.........
12.47 @ Wigan gets you to Man. Victoria at about 13.24 on platform 5......catch the Stalybridge/Huddersfield train on adjoining platform 4 departs 13.27 ( next one is 13.57).....journey to Ashton takes 10 mins and the ground is 10 mins walk from the station.
You pass the ground (next to the athletics track) on the train as you approach Ashton. Head for Sainsburys ( turn right after leaving station)....walk past Ashton Cricket Club over the railway hump, athletics track is on your left ......football ground down the road on the right hand side of the track. No more than 10-15 mins ....and no boozers to distract you !
