Volunteer since 21 August 2007
Rob volunteered for the role as Leigh RMI Juniors Secretary almost a year ago. He brought to the juniors sound experience of grassroots football at Junior, Youth and Adult levels both as a Team Manager and as an Officer carrying out a variety of tasks.
“When I took over as Secretary I had to work hard to get my head around how the organisation worked. The club has 12 teams, 155 players and 30 volunteers. It’s quite a size”
Robs work has certainly paid off. In January RMI Juniors moved up 2 rungs of the Charter standard ladder and obtained FA Charter Standard Community status this being the first time a club in Leigh had held this status and they joined an elite band of 13 other Community clubs in the County. In May the club won the Community club of the year award for Lancashire and have been nominated for a Regional and National award.
Now working solely on Leigh Genesis Juniors Rob is driving the Genesis Juniors project forward in terms of creating the infrastructure required to lay a solid platform for the many new teams being created.
